Success Stories:
Easton Bell Sports, Irving TX
The nation's largest sporting goods Products Company; Consolidated has selling territories all over US and Largest consumer base in the Country. The company's 1,000 employees operate production centers and sales and distribution centers.
Challenge
Most of Easton Bell core systems were put in place in the late 1980s. Although they were very effective at that time, these systems were developed in functional silos with very specific constraints. Over the years they had become inflexible and outdated, with system changes not keeping up with the changes to the business. In recent years, new client/server solutions were "bolted on" to these legacy systems. Integration issues, manual workarounds, poor availability of information across functional boundaries and concerns about vendor viability were some of the system issues facing Easton Bell. Easton Bell wanted to put in place an enterprise version of SAP to streamline its manufacturing, Distribution and financial processes. To minimize the risk of failure, Easton Bell wanted to roll out the solution to different locations over time in a simple and repetitive process. The implementation was a challenge because of the large number of legacy systems Easton Bell was running.
Solution
ERP Logic was selected as the implementation partner and was responsible for development, configuration, testing, and implementation of the new system. The ASAP/ValueSAP2 methodology was adopted as the implementation tool. ERP Logic leveraged Functional and Technical resources to deliver an efficient and cost-effective solution that included providing specific custom processes for Warehouse Management, handling of SAP AFS Solution. All the custom processes were provided without modifying standard SAP code.
Results
The SAP R/3 solution was implemented in Four of Easton Bell locations in under 10 months. Easton Bell expects the new system will allow the company to increase margins, quality, and efficiency. The successful implementation will also make it possible to improve service levels, standardize accounting practices and processes, increase staff productivity, improve decision support capabilities, and better utilize existing core systems. To deployment of solution as easy as possible, the ERP Logic team designed the interfaces in such a fashion that Easton Bell only needs to "flip a few switches" to bring additional locations live. No additional program or development changes will be required.
