Challenge
In late 1999, Elmer's initiated a search to identify a partner to support the company's SAP R/3 upgrade project from version 3.1I to 4.6C. The SAP modules to be included in the upgrade project were Financials (FI), Controlling (CO), Sales and Distribution (SD), Materials Management (MM) and Production Planning (PP).
Solution
ERP Logic was selected as Elmer's upgrade partner. A team of seven experienced ERP Logic consultants was assigned the lead for the project and assisted by a similar-size team of Elmer's employees. The project required a highly coordinated effort between all the teams involved. The SAP Basis team and the SAP Upgrade team worked on the Window upgrade and SQL migration portions of the project. These recommendations ultimately led to a significant reduction in production downtime.
Results
ERP Logic's functional consultants trained Elmer's team members on the ASAP methodology and templates, as these tools were used extensively during the project. A thorough testing of unit and integration was also conducted during each phase. Applicable training materials were then jointly developed by the team members and passed on to Elmer's internal training department, which in turn conducted the training of all end users. The project was planned for January to May of 2000 with a go-live date of May 16th. The project was successfully completed on time and on budget.
